Vadim Chaimovich was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, and began studying piano at the age of five, giving his USSR debut performance with an orchestra just two years later. He won many awards while at the Vilnius School of Music, including the First Prizes at the Balys Dvarionas International Competition for Young Talents in Vilnius in 1989 and 1992 and at the Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte International Competition in Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic) in 1991. One year later he received a diploma at the First International Tchaikovsky Youth Competition in Moscow. He won two more awards at the International Stasys Vainiunas Piano Competition in Vilnius in 1993 and at the International F. Chopin Piano Competition in Szafarnia (Poland) in 1994. The same year Professor Lev Natochenny (USA) invited Vadim Chaimovich to join his class at the Frankfurt Conservatoire of Music. In 2001 he continued his studies with the pianist Eugen Indjic in Paris. From 2003 to 2007 Vadim Chaimovich accomplished his musical education as a postgraduate and master class student in the class of Professor Peter Rösel at the Dresden Conservatoire of Music «Carl Maria von Weber» and was awarded a diploma with honors.

He received prizes at many international piano competitions, including the Schubert Competition in Dortmund (Germany), the Schlern Music Competition (Italy), the William Kapell International Piano Competition in Maryland (USA) and the 29th Masterplayers International Music Competiton in Lugano (Switzerland). He is also the winner of the 2009 10th International Web Concert Hall Competition (USA). As the First Prize winner of the 2009 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition (New York) he recently gave his debut performance in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. He was awarded scholarships and awards by such European foundations as the Da-Ponte Foundation (Darmstadt), the Ottilie Selbach Redslob Foundation and Gotthard Schierse Foundation (Berlin), the Open Lithuanian Foundation, Alfred & Ilse Stammer-Mayer Foundation (Switzerland) etc. In 2003, Vadim Chaimovich’s outstanding artistic achievements were distinguished with the Promotion Prize of the Dresden Art and Culture Foundation, public awards ceremony taking place at the Saxon State Opera.

The young pianist has given numerous concerts in Switzerland, Poland, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA, among others with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Dresden, the Carl Maria von Weber Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra Filarmonica di Bacau. He performed at the Kulturpalast and the Semperoper (Dresden), the Paderewski Hall (Lausanne), the Theatre du Vevey, the Cortot Hall (Paris), the Grand Opera House (Cairo), the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (College Park/USA), the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, the Sendai City Cultural Center (Japan) as well as at such international music festivals as the Meranofest (Italy), the Verbier Festival and Academy (Switzerland), the Schlern International Music Festival (Italy), the Dresden Music Festival, the Kassel Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany).

In April 2008 Vadim Chaimovich recorded a CD with works by Haydn and Mozart for the Italian classical music label Sheva. His recent CD with Rachmaninov, Mendelssohn and Chopin appeared in 2010. In the near future Vadim Chaimovich will give concerts with the members of the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, with the Middle German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra Miskolc.
